How we collect, use and protect your personal information.
This policy explains how Budget Finance collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when we arrange commercial and consumer asset finance for our clients. It applies to information we collect through our website, over the phone, by email, and in the course of preparing and submitting a finance application.
Budget Finance is the trading name of Budget-Finance, A.C.N. 678 038 876 Pty Ltd (ABN 34 678 038 876), trading as BUDGET-FINANCE, of 19/260 Wardell Street, Enoggera QLD 4051.
We are a credit representative (Credit Representative Number 565565) of Connective Credit Services Pty Ltd, Australian Credit Licence 389328, and we arrange finance through Connective as our aggregator. We are bound by the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles.
We collect personal information directly from you — for example, when you submit an enquiry through our website, call or email us, or provide information as part of a finance application. We may also collect information from other sources connected with your application, including credit reporting bodies, the lenders and financiers we work with, referrers who introduce you to us, and publicly available business registers (such as ASIC).
The information we collect typically includes your name and contact details, identification details, employment and financial information, details of the asset or purchase being financed, and information relevant to assessing your finance application.
We collect and use your personal information to arrange commercial and consumer asset finance on your behalf, to verify your identity, to assess your finance application and prepare it for submission to a lender, and to meet our obligations under anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) laws and the National Consumer Credit Protection Act. We may also use your contact details to follow up an enquiry or keep you informed about your application.
As part of assessing a finance application, we may obtain a credit report about you from a credit reporting body, including Equifax, Experian or illion. Credit reporting bodies operate under their own privacy obligations, and you have rights under the Privacy Act in relation to your credit information — including the right to request access to it, to ask that it be corrected if it’s wrong, and to complain if you believe it has been mishandled. Those rights can generally be exercised directly with the relevant credit reporting body, or through us.
To arrange and process your finance application, we disclose relevant personal information to the lender you’re applying with, and to our aggregator, Connective, through whom applications are submitted. We may also disclose information to other service providers who assist us in operating our business (for example, IT and software providers), and to any party we’re required to disclose it to by law. We don’t sell your personal information, and we only disclose what’s reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected.
Our website uses standard analytics and advertising tools, including Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, to understand how visitors use our site and to measure the performance of our advertising. These tools may use cookies or similar technology to collect general, non-identifying information about your visit. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time.
We take reasonable steps to keep the personal information we hold secure, including through the systems and access controls we use to store and manage client information, and we take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it’s inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below and we’ll respond to your request.
If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your personal information, contact us first using the details below and we’ll do our best to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), of which we are a member, or with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), which regulates privacy in Australia.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the date it was last updated shown above.
